Important GRUB ALERT!

Now that the rain has returned, we are all happy to see our lawns return to their lush green color again. All of us are now seeing the effects of a prolonged drought period on our lawns. The areas of our turf that didn’t receive enough moisture have now told us that they’ll not be coming back this year. Seeding those areas is probably the only option to return your lawn to what it was before. It’s also a great way to improve the overall looks of you lawn as well.

So what does this have to do with grubs?

A lot really. Japanese Beetles usually lay their eggs around mid to late July. European Chaffers did their laying earlier by as much as 30 days. Timing these treatments is always a challenge as the weather conditions change from year to year. It’s important that we get the treatment done for your property before the eggs have hatched and before they begin to eat on your root systems. This year has been quite a bit different than most. We started our treatments much earlier than most due to the fact we had such an early start to the season. We’re glad we did. It meant that beetles were preparing to lay their eggs a bit sooner than most years. The problem with this year was that there was an extended dry period. To get right to the point… It’s EXTREMELY important that the Grub Control treatment we apply to your property receives enough moisture to work. Since the product we use is a systemic type, it can only work if it’s watered in and trans-located throughout the plant tissue. Once the grub bites the grassroots, they’ll ingest the product and die. If your lawn didn’t receive enough moisture to “jump-start” the chlorophyll production again and move this product through the plant, then there is a good chance that your grub control wasn’t as effective as it could have been. We all want our yards looking their best and when the weather doesn’t cooperate it’s up to us to provide the care and moisture needed. If your grass went dormant and you didn’t water your lawn after treatment, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee your treatment was effective.

It appears that from July 25th – August 25th was the “RED ZONE” meaning that if you or mother nature didn’t water your lawn enough to awaken the grass and allow this product to be utilized than the level of success dropped dramatically. We stand behind our products and guarantee satisfaction. If you had a grub control treatment and still have signs of grub damage, please call us. We will work with you! We are not in the business of walking away after treatment has failed for whatever reason. But you must understand that the instructions we provide you on your invoice are important information you need to read. If you neglect the instructions we provide, then we cannot guarantee that our services will be 100% effective for you. Teamwork is what it takes to build strong and healthy lawns and you can rest assured we’ll always be working hard on our end of the deal.

How little moisture did mother nature provide?

Here is the weather data during our window of treatments we made to properties across some of our service areas.
