Lawn Care, Pest & Vegetation Management in Mount Desert, Maine
Mount Desert covers the quiet interior of the island, including Somesville and the village of Mount Desert proper. A team of licensed professionals has been caring for Mount Desert lawns and properties for 40 years, with programs built around how your lawn actually grows through a Maine season.
Three pillars. One healthy Mount Desert property.
Coastal and Downeast properties face conditions inland lawns never see: salt-touched sea breezes, cooler microclimates that delay spring green-up, heavy shade under mature trees, and tick pressure along stone walls and wooded edges. Our three core programs are built around those realities.
Don't Feed It Once. Feed It Right.

The Town of Mount Desert sits on the interior of Mount Desert Island in Hancock County, wrapping around Somes Sound and taking in the old village of Somesville. Much of the town is tucked among hills, woods, and the edges of Acadia National Park, which shapes how lawns here grow. Tall pines and hardwoods throw heavy shade across many yards, and that shade, combined with the island's cool, damp air, keeps soils acidic and slow to warm. Moss often moves in where grass struggles, and spring green-up tends to arrive later than it does for inland towns to the west.
Salt-touched sea breezes and morning fog drift inland off the sound, so even properties that do not front the water feel a coastal influence. The growing window is short, which makes timing the season correctly more important than how much you apply. We plan visits so feeding, seeding, and soil work line up with the cooler stretches that favor northern grasses, then watch for the dry, hot spell that usually settles in through July and August and can stress thin or shaded turf.
Wooded lots and old stone walls give ticks plenty of cover here, and grubs can quietly weaken roots before the damage shows above ground. Our pest and turf programs lean on careful timing and steady management rather than one heavy pass, which suits the island's quiet, seasonal pace and the many homes that sit empty part of the year.
